A Swiss camp is a big, sturdy tent on a raised platform, set up with proper beds and linen. It’s the comfortable way to sleep among the trees, somewhere between camping and a hotel room, and one of the most popular kinds of stay in Mukteshwar.
What to expect inside
- A real bed, not a sleeping bag, with proper linen and blankets
- Canvas walls, so you hear the forest: birds at dawn, wind in the trees at night
- Cooler nights than in a room, so extra blankets matter in winter
- Zip-shut doors and a platform that keeps you off the ground
Swiss camp or camping?
Traditional camping means a small tent, a sleeping bag and shared facilities. A Swiss camp keeps the outdoor feel and adds the comfort: a bed, space to stand up, and the rest of the resort a few steps away. It’s often called glamping, short for glamorous camping.
Who it suits
Couples and friends who want the outdoors without roughing it, and families with older children who love the idea of sleeping in a tent. If you want four solid walls and more warmth in deep winter, choose a mountain-view room or a cottage.
Best time for a Swiss camp
March to June and September to November are ideal: mild days and cool, comfortable nights. In the monsoon, the camps are dry but the paths around them get wet. In December and January, nights are cold enough that most guests prefer a room.
What to pack
- A warm layer for the night, whatever the season
- A small torch or phone light for walking back after dinner
- Slippers or easy shoes for the path

Frequently asked
Are Swiss camps warm enough in winter?
With blankets and warm clothes, yes, but nights are colder than in a room. In December and January, a room or cottage is the warmer choice.
Is a Swiss camp safe?
Yes. The tents are sturdy, zip shut, and sit within the resort.
What is the difference between a Swiss camp and a cottage?
A Swiss camp is a large tent with beds; a cottage is a solid, private building with more warmth and space.
