The route
Nainital → Bhowali → Ramgarh → Mukteshwar. From Nainital, drop down to Bhowali, then climb through the orchards of Ramgarh to the Mukteshwar ridge. The road is narrow and winding in places, so take it slowly.

- By car: about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic around Bhowali.
- Weekends and holidays: allow extra time leaving Nainital.
- In fog, rain or snow: drive only in daylight and allow more time.
Getting there without a car
